I've had the blessing of flying rather often the last few years. Today, I hopped on a plane ✈️. Though I've done it many times before, it was absolutely weird to think about the change and transition I am now beginning to embark on.
You see, the Lord clearly told me a couple of years ago that the East Coast is home. Feeling a call to missions, and thinking missions requires going overseas, to think of making DC my home was a rather peculiar thought. Flash forward nearly two years, and the Lord has clearly done a deep work in my heart.
As I look back at different seasons, I can see what the Lord did. Washington DC is the place where God exposed the depths of my heart- not to shame or hurt me, but to set me free, heal me, set me apart and take me from glory to glory. I've been challenged, I've fallen, but oh have I overcome. There is no shame for those who are in Christ Jesus. And we can rest assured that the Lord works ALL things out for our good and His glory because we love Him, and especially because He loves us!
DC became home, and a beautiful home it became. Every time I flew home or on a missions trip, I knew I was coming back to DC to continue serving at David's Tent DC. As far as I know, my season as a full-time musicianary with David's Tent DC has officially come to an end... that very thought is the reason why leaving was hard.
As I sat in the airport waiting for my plane to take off, I couldn't help but think:
- What am I doing?
- Am I doing the right thing?
- Lord, did I hear you correctly?
Because it's scary sometimes to leave the familiarity and comfort of the place that has become home. WHAT IF I MADE THE WRONG CHOICE?
Beloved, trust that you hear the voice of God! His sheep know His voice. When you seek Him faithfully, He gives the grace to stay on course! Should you wander, the Good Shepherd leaves the 99 to find the 1!
As I was halfway between Nashville, Tennessee, and Phoenix, Arizona, I realized a few things.
1- I made the right choice. Whether or not everyone agrees with you, doesn't matter when you are following the Lord the way you best know how to!
2- My heart was excited. The clouds looked like dream clouds and the Lord reminded me this new season is all about dreaming and enjoying Him.
3- We seemed to be flying in direction of the Sun as it set. Felt like we were chasing the Sun, and I was reminded that I'm chasing the Son... When we run after Jesus, we will not be denied.
4- My heart is already coming more alive. As I'm writing this, I'm reminded of how much my heart comes alive when I write.
We're meant to enjoy the Lord. We're meant to dream and dream BIG. We're meant to seek and love the Lord wholeheartedly. We're meant to trust the Lord and give Him thanks always.
The path before us isn't always clear, but we never walk alone. God never leaves us or forsakes us. While I don't know what's next- in terms of what's to come after David's Tent DC- I know that I simply need to seek the Lord first and foremost. Whatever the Lord has planned, my heart is expectant because He only has good plans. He's got good plans for you and me, because He's so for you and me.
Spread your arms open wide. Surrender to the Lord. Be faithful where you are, be faithful wherever the Lord leads you! Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly, and the fullness of life comes via Jesus and Jesus alone!
