We were made for relationship- first and foremost for relationship with God. But we were also made to have relationships in our daily lives- whether it be with family, friends, coworkers, a significant other (boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance/husband/wife), etc.
We weren't designed to rely on earthly relationships though. We were designed to rely on God- to put Him at the center of our lives. To learn to be one with Him as Jesus is one with the Father.

I am STRONGLY believing the Lord is calling me to a season of singleness. I thought this was funny at first because I have been single my whole life! I have never had a boyfriend or been in an "official" relationship, and so I thought "but my whole life has been a season of singleness" (hehe). The beauty of the Lord specifically calling me to a season of singleness is the intentionality of Him asking me to be single in this season. God is incredibly purposeful and intentional- nothing is by accident or without significance to Him. So this is a consecrated season between me and the Lord, where His eyes are on me, and my eyes are on Him; it is a season of my intimacy with the Lord deepening as my love and trust for God become unwavering.
I can't tell you from experience, but I can imagine that walking through a relationship is no easy feat. And if you're not ready, or don't have a good foundation, or if you're not quite healthy yet or even if you don't fully know who you are, it is going to be difficult to have a healthy relationship. Unhealthy people or even people who aren't "whole" will have difficulty in having a healthy relationship. But of course God can move and nothing is impossible with God, I just believe it is far better to go into a relationship healthy (which may sound basic, but it's true).
With where I am right now, I know that if I got into a relationship I would run the risk of becoming co-dependent. I am still learning to fully rely on Jesus, but I am also still learning who I am! We need to learn to let God pour His love into us, to fill us with Him,and to show us who we are so that we don't become reliant on a human to do these things for us. As humans we're imperfect. So if you aren't getting what you need from God, you're going to look in other places. Most likely you won't be satisfied when you rely on man because man cannot satisfy the way God can. God is the only one who can be fully relied on and trusted. We need to put God first and to keep Him first. We need to learn to walk with Him, we need deeper intimacy with God.
I'm excited for this season of singleness because I know that the Lord knows me, He knows what He is doing in me and my life, and He knows just what I need. And He knows you too!
My excitement to be single actually grows the more I think about it- oh is the Lord giving me grace. This may sound bold, but God isn't ready to share me with a man yet. He wants me all to Himself right now, and oh does that make my heart skip a beat! GOD wants to spend time with me, HE wants to be intimate with me, HE wants to prepare my heart. He isn't asking me to be single so that I can be lonely, but He is doing it because He loves me. Truth is I'm not ready, and God knowing that is kind enough to have me take a step back so that He can prepare me. He wants to solidify my identity, He wants to solidify my walk with Him, He wants to draw me more into Him and teach me how I deserve to be pursued. And He wants to do this all for YOU too. God is preparing me as He is preparing you- whether you feel ready for a relationship or not. So if you're single, there is nothing wrong with you! God is just faithful enough to want you to be as ready as possible when the time comes for you to get into a relationship.
Singleness is honestly a blessing. It's a time of discovery, of adventure, of first learning to fall in love with Jesus, of discovering what makes your heart come alive, of developing and pursuing dreams and passions. Yes this happens in relationships too, but the base is often times formed in your single years. Take this time to allow the Lord to work in and move in your life. Let Him take you deeper, let Him heal you, deliver you, give you breakthrough, restore you and set your feet to dancing.
God doesn't want you to get into a mediocre relationship or just any relationship, but He wants the very best for you. So don't settle for the first guy that gives you attention, but keep running after Jesus.. Keep running after Jesus and putting Him first, and everything will fall into place and work out in HIS timing!!
It's hard to wait but oh is the wait worth it!! And when the wait becomes too hard, please lean on your Beloved- Jesus. He is your strength when you are weak and where He is leading you is the best path for you. He is preparing you and your heart more and more with each step you take,
So I just want to encourage you if you are single, to keep moving forward. To fully become available to the Lord and what He wants to do in you. To allow Him to pour more and more of His love into you as He builds you up to make you all you can be! The Lord desires intimacy with us- to draw us deeper and deeper into Him. He has the purest motives- all for our benefit as well as to see His kingdom come. Do not compromise your destiny for a relationship, but put God first and enjoy the season you are in. You are loved, you are blessed, you are right where you need to be.
Many blessings to you. I bless you with the love of Jesus, as well as with greater revelation of who you are, of your security in the love of Jesus and for a deeper encounter with God Himself. Until next time, my friends.
